Welcome to Slings & Things lite, I guess. I mentioned in the full version of this book that the whole idea for it, and the “Basics and Beyond Series” on High Power Rifle competition, came from a really simple suggestion from someone in our industry to produce a book that showed people how to use a Service Rifle sling. Well, I took it from there and started stacking onto the idea of covering all the gear we need on and around the firing line, including what we’re wearing when we get there. That’s Slings & Things. It goes into deep detail on coats, spotting scopes and stand apparatus, line gear, behind the line gear, transport options like range carts, pants, hats, mats, gloves, mitts, tool kit, ammo handling, and even talks about ear plug installation, and, of course, slings for both Match Rifle and Service Rifle. It turned into a fairly big book, 180+ pages. It’s astounding and outstanding, and I’m not nearly alone in that opinion. The reason it’s 180 pages is because the topics are killed to death, buried, dug up, and then killed again, and then buried again. One shebble to the head never gets it first time, and there are always roots to trip over. This is the living dead end to Service Rifle sling use. That’s my style.
